Joel is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). During his time in school, he was one of the top students of the Criminal Practice module and was a speaker at the public hearing of the Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods.

Joel’s principal areas of practice are in litigation and dispute resolution. He presently acts for various statutory boards in prosecutorial work, and for several corporations in asset recovery. He has previously assisted to advise and act for estates in Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration, and for a criminal law matter involving aggravated cheating.

Joel has experience in cross-border corporate and commercial transactions. Representative matters include the drafting of subscription agreements and information memorandums for the issuance of bonds and units, and the drafting of legal opinions on the application of Singapore law for a Tokyo-listed company.

Apart from sparring in the courtroom, Joel enjoys sparring on various angles on the tennis court, serving a balance between power and precision. He also spent a year abroad doing humanitarian work, feeding the less privileged physically and spiritually. Aesthetically, Joel delights in photography and poetry, and has dabbled in singing and songwriting.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

– John Wesley
